Ever stopped and wondered about the shelf life of natural cosmetics and how to extend them?

In a world of glamour, cosmetics are taking over and are steadily capturing our hearts. Inspiring confidence, providing incredible results and encouraging the growth of your beauty through naturally enriched products (guaranteed to be efficient and long-lasting).

When choosing natural cosmetics that will not harm our health or beauty, I advise you to pay attention to the expiration dates. Make sure to note:

If the cosmetic product is valid for a short time (up to 1-12 months), it seems that you have chosen a natural product. If the shelf life is two years or more, it’s a product that is full of chemicals and harmful preservatives.

Why is the shelf life of a natural product significantly shorter?

Nature is the best indicator, and natural ingredients are extracted from nature. So the shelf life of various extracts, oils and decoctions cannot belong. If you mix the fat with water and keep it at room temperature, you will notice a strange phenomenon. After a few days, mould will appear, microorganisms will start to multiply. The mixture will emit an unpleasant odour and look hideous because it does not contain preservatives and other additives to maintain product quality.

It is true that many natural cosmetics manufacturers also use synthetic preservatives that extend the shelf life to 6-12 months. However, do not be afraid, they are allowed to be used in organic and natural cosmetics, be extracted from natural plant-based raw material and are used in extremely small quantities.

Nevertheless, shelf life is extendable through proper use of the product:

- Do not expose to the sun or provoke sudden temperature changes.

- Apply with a spatula, etc. Do not use your fingers.

- Keep the container tightly sealed when not in use.

- Prevent water from entering the product or the container.

- Keep the container in a darkened and chill place like the refrigerator.

In short, products containing water are excellent mediums for microorganism growth. It may increase their expiration date but, they are not suitable for safe use. These are face and body creams, serums, cleansers and milk. Never use expired products and handle them carefully and responsibly as you may only harm yourself.
